The Ponta Lopud creative platform is launching this year’s artistic program with summer screenings, film discussions, and workshops, scheduled to take place from June 27 to June 29

In less than a month, the island of Lopud will once again be at the heart of art and culture as the Ponta Lopud Creative Platform continues to gather artists, fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and bringing attractive artistic programs to the public. This year’s cultural and artistic program on the island kicks off with three evenings of summer screenings, taking place from June 27 to June 29 in the unique setting of the RMH Hotel Lafodia’s LaBaja Beach.

The evening film screening program is organized in partnership with Kinematografi Dubrovnik (Dubrovnik Cinemas). Daytime events will feature educational workshops and film discussions led by acclaimed award-winning actors, directors, producers, editors, and screenwriters from Croatia and around the world. These activities are tailored for young filmmakers chosen based on mentor recommendations and their accomplishments. The film discussions and workshops will take place at the unique venues of the Rector’s Palace, the Franciscan Monastery, as well as other selected island locations.

 

 

“Ponta Lopud brings together the island’s residents and its admirers with performing artists who find unique inspiration here. The bond between Lopud Island and its artists is inseparable; its traditions, unspoiled nature, cultural heritage, and most importantly, its people, have fuelled artistic creativity from ancient times to the present day,” emphasized Tilda Grossel Bogdanović, founder of the Ponta Lopud Creative Platform.

The summer screenings on the Ponta Lopud Creative Platform will symbolically kick off the summer season.

To wrap up the 2024 summer, the Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival will gather renowned jazz musicians from across the globe to exchange experiences and delight all jazz enthusiasts with performances and jam sessions.

“Thanks to the engagement and support of the islanders, our loyal sponsors, and the unique Ponta Lopud Club, Lopud continues to build its image as an island of art, a unique artistic oasis welcoming well-meaning and creative individuals,” concluded Tilda Grossel Bogdanović. She added that Lopud continues to develop as an internationally recognized cultural and artistic stage. New valuable initiatives are emerging, and soon, in addition to film and jazz art, the Ponta Lopud Creative Platform will also present its first international literary event.
