This year’s acting and directing workshops will be led by three masters and three lecturers, world-renowned filmmakers and professionals in their respective fields, who will share their knowledge and experience with future stars of regional cinema. The program will last for six days. On this occasion, we are announcing the names of the lecturers, the three exceptional professionals who have left their mark on the world of cinema. The names of the masters will be announced at a later day.
Peter Spears is an Oscar-winning producer of NOMADLAND. The film also brought an Oscar to Chloé Zhao for directing and to Frances McDormand for an actress in a leading role. In addition to these awards, the film also won Golden Globe, Golden Lion in Venice, Critics Choice Award, BAFTA, PGA and Independent Spirit Award for Best Picture. Spears also produced Luca Guadagnino’s film CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, based on a book by André Aciman, for which he was also nominated for an Academy Award in 2017. Reuniting yet again with Luca Guadagnino and actor Timothée Chalamet, he recently produced the film BONES AND ALL, which will premiere this year.
Juho Kuosmanen is a Finnish film, theatre and opera director and writer, whose short films have been screened at many festivals including Cannes, Locarno and Oberhausen. His debut feature film THE HAPPIEST DAY IN THE LIFE OF OLLI MÄKI premiered at Cannes in 2016, where it won the top prize in the Un Certain Regard selection of the Festival. His second feature film, COMPARTMENT NO. 6, also premiered in Cannes (2021) in the main competition program, where it was awarded the Grand Prix by the jury, an award it shared with Asghar Farhadi’s film A HERO. Kuosmanen is the co-founder and artistic director of the Kokkolan Kinojuhlat Film Festival.
Brian Swardstrom is one of the partners in the United Talent Agency, where he represents actors working in film, television and theatre. He also represents many Oscar, Emmy and Tony award winners, including four-time Oscar winner Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton, Michael Douglas, Tilda Swinton, Kevin Kline, Claire Foy, John Lithgow, Damian Lewis, Michael C. Hall, Léa Seydoux, Sally Field, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Cynthia Erivo. He has been working as a talent agent for over 30 years.
The following six very successful young directors will participate in the international program for film professionals in the “Directing” category: Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović, Una Gunjak, Tamara Kotevska, Maja Miloš, Dušan Kasalica and Katarina Morano.
Nine extremely talented regional actresses and actors will participate in the international masterclass program of the Ponta Lopud Festival for film professionals in the “Acting” category: Goran Bogdan, Judita Franković Brdar, Dado Ćosić, Anja Matković, Jovana Stojiljković, Pavle Čemerikić, Amila Terzimehić, Sara Klimoska and Timon Šturbej.
The names of the masters and the participants in the new program category, intended for female cinematographers, will be announced in May.
At the second Ponta Lopud Festival, which will take place from 22 to 27 June 2022, participants and audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy eight evening film screenings (seven films in total) in unique locations under the stars – in the beautiful ambience of the Franciscan Monastery Fortress (Lopud 1483) and the beach of RMH Lafodia Sea Resort.
