Michel Franco


Michel Franco was born in 1979 in Mexico City. The films he has written, directed and produced include “Chronic” (Best Screenplay Award at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival), “Las Hijas de Abril” / “Daughters of April” (Jury Award of the “Un Certain Regard” Section at the Cannes Film Festival 2017) and “Después de Lucía” / “After Lucia” (the main award of the “Un Certain Regard” section at the Cannes Film Festival 2012). Among the films he produced are “600 Millas” (directed by Gabriel Ripstein, Berlinale 2015) and “From Afar” (directed by Lorenzo Vigas, Venice Film Festival 2015). The plot of his film “Nuevo Orden“, is set in dystopian Mexico City. His latest film “Sundown“ premiered in Venice in 2021.
