Pawel Pawlikowski


Pawel Pawlikowski was born in Warsaw in 1957. He studied Literature and Philosophy in London and Oxford. He started his career by making documentary films for the BBC in the late 1980s. After documentaries, his focus shifted to feature films, the first of which are „Last Resort“ (2000) and „My Summer of Love“ (2004). Both films won BAFTA awards. In 2015, Pawlikowski made the highly acclaimed “Ida”, the recipient of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, along with many others. His film “Cold War” once again earned him a nomination by the Academy for Best Foreign Language Film in 2018. He currently lives in Warsaw and teaches Film direction and Screenwriting at the Wajda Film School.
