Only a few days remain until the start of the sixth Ponta Lopud Film Festival, which will take place from June 25 to 28 and bring together prominent regional and international figures from the world of film, as well as numerous emerging filmmakers and film enthusiasts. Audiences will enjoy outstanding film screenings beneath Lopud’s starry skies, along with conversations and masterclasses offering a unique opportunity to learn directly from some of the industry’s most accomplished professionals.

This year’s edition is marked by a special tribute to film music and the legendary composer Ennio Morricone. The festival’s unofficial opening event will take place on Wednesday, June 24, when visitors will have the opportunity to attend a free screening of Giuseppe Tornatore’s documentary Ennio (2021), beginning at 5:15 PM. The film offers an intimate portrait of an incomparable musical mind whose work helped shape the history of cinema.

The official film programme begins on Thursday, June 25, with a screening of Bob Marley: One Love (2024), directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who will personally introduce the film. The biographical drama explores the life and musical legacy of the reggae icon and the universal message of freedom and unity embodied in his work. It will be followed by Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name (2017), with the film’s producer Peter Spears in attendance. Friday brings two more acclaimed titles: Lukas Dhont’s Belgian drama Close (2022), winner of the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, and Giuseppe Tornatore’s beloved Italian classic Cinema Paradiso (1988). On Saturday, audiences will have the opportunity to see the Croatian film Koke (2026), directed by Igor Jelinović, in one of the rare screenings ahead of its official release. Director Igor Jelinović and lead actress Snježana Sinovčić-Šiškov will be present for the screening. On the festival’s final day, Sunday, June 28, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Robert Homen, will pay tribute to Morricone’s most memorable film scores. Joining the orchestra will be arranger and orchestrator Shaun Crawford, vocal soloist Thana Alexa, harmonica virtuoso Antonio Serrano, the Chamber Ensemble Camerata Mostar, and the Morricone Quartet.

The festival programme is built around educational workshops, masterclasses and conversations with leading film professionals. This year, particular emphasis has been placed on the inclusion of emerging talents in all aspects of the programme. Festival organisers stress that creating a space where new voices can be seen, heard and connected with professionals who can help bring their projects to life remains one of the festival’s core values.

Tickets for film screenings and the concert are available through the Entrio ticketing platform. During the festival, audiences will also be able to use a dedicated boat transfer aboard the Argosy from Dubrovnik. Departure from Lapad, in front of the Faculty of Economics, is scheduled for 6:00 PM, while return departures from Lopud will operate according to the timetable published at pontalopud.hr.

The Ponta Lopud Creative Platform presents three cultural programmes in the summer of 2026 and warmly welcomes all lovers of the arts, particularly film, music and literature. The Ponta Lopud Film Festival, the first of the three events, will take place from June 25 to 28 and will be dedicated to the art of cinema. The second event, the popular Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival, will bring music lovers to the island from August 27 to 29, while Ponta Lopud Book Bridge, taking place from September 17 to 19, will transform Lopud into a literary haven and round off the season’s cultural programme.
