The Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival is a boutique, immersive international gathering designed to bring high-level artistry, mentorship, and meaningful connection into a shared space. It was conceived because of the global importance of the jazz genre and its power to connect people through freedom of expression.

The Jazz Festival acts as a focused, mentorship-driven residency where young professional musicians gain direct access to world-class artists, masterclasses, and intimate jam sessions that accelerate career development beyond typical festival exposure. By pairing emerging regional and international professionals with rotating jazz Masters in Residence and international mentors in a highly inspiring, cross-cultural setting, the festival builds lasting professional networks, collaborative projects, and practical industry insight essential for advancing careers.
Since its inaugural year in 2023, the festival has welcomed internationally acclaimed artists, including Jazz Masters in Residence Joe Lovano (Grammy-winning saxophonist), Kenny Werner (renowned pianist and founder of Berklee College of Music’s Effortless Mastery Institute), and Terri Lyne Carrington (NEA Jazz Master and director of the Institute for Jazz & Gender Justice at Berklee College of Music), who mentored emerging musicians through masterclasses and collaborative performances.
The Jazz Festival offers an annual concert program of visiting mentors combined with a focused, mentorship-driven residency, which have included mentors in residence such as Linda May Han Oh, Antonio Sánchez, Michael League, Nicole Zuraitis, David Sánchez, Thana Alexa, and more, offering participants direct engagement with leaders in contemporary jazz. To date, the festival has brought together over 40 festival fellows—young professional musicians from the Balkan region, greater Europe, USA, Latin America, and Asia—providing them with intensive mentorship, performance experience, and networking opportunities for lasting artistic and professional connections.
