The sixth Ponta Lopud Film Festival, taking place from 25 to 28 June, will present audiences with a carefully curated programme bringing together film screenings, visual art, music and professional talks by internationally acclaimed film artists. The festival programme will be preceded on 24 June by a free screening of Giuseppe Tornatore’s documentary Ennio (2021), beginning at 17:15. An intimate portrait of Ennio Morricone, the film combines archival footage and conversations with the composer’s close collaborators to reveal the extent to which this unique musical mind shaped the history of cinema.
The film programme continues on Thursday, 25 June at 21:00 with Bob Marley: One Love (2024), the musical biopic directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. The film follows the life and career of the reggae legend and the universal message of freedom and unity through which he left an enduring mark on popular culture.
Friday brings two screenings. At 21:00, audiences will have the opportunity to see Lukas Dhont’s Belgian drama Close (2022), an intimate story of boyhood friendship and the fragility of identity, which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. At 23:00, the programme continues with Giuseppe Tornatore’s Italian classic Cinema Paradiso (1988), a lyrical and nostalgic ode to the love of cinema. The film also marked the beginning of Tornatore’s later collaboration with Morricone, whose music made it unforgettable.
Saturday’s programme features the second Croatian screening of Koke, directed by Igor Jelinović, at 21:00. This debut feature, inspired by a real family experience, follows two sisters caught in a dispute over the inheritance of an old stone family house on an island. Authentic, emotional and witty, the film explores a theme that will resonate deeply with Dalmatian audiences. Koke will enter regular cinema distribution on 23 July, making Lopud one of the first places where audiences will have the chance to see it. Lead actress Snježana Sinovčić-Šiškov and director Igor Jelinović will also attend the screening, giving audiences and the media an opportunity to speak with them.
On Sunday, the festival will close with a major concert in honour of the legendary composer Ennio Morricone. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Robert Homen, will perform some of Morricone’s most memorable film melodies, joined by music director and arranger Shaun Crawford, soloist and concert coordinator Thana Alexa, harmonica virtuoso Antonio Serrano, the Chamber Ensemble Camerata Mostar and the band Green Tea Co. The concert will be followed by the festival’s closing party.

From 25 June to 1 September, visitors will also be able to enjoy the exhibition “Nomadia” at the former Pracat Hotel. Initiated by entrepreneur Aleksandra Pušnik, the project presents works by artists Deša Petričić Vlahutin, Nikolina Šimunović and Carla Chiusano. The exhibition will be open daily from 17:00 to 21:00.
For visitors arriving from Dubrovnik, boat transfers have been organised in cooperation with Lokrum Reserve, while regular Jadrolinija lines between Dubrovnik and Lopud are also available. Full information about the programme and accompanying events can be found at pontalopud.hr and on the social media channels of the Ponta Lopud Creative Platform.
